Short oil alkyd resins

Short oil alkyd resins are characterized by an oil content of less than 40%. These types of resins are soluble in aromatic or oxygenated solvents and have very limited compatibility with aliphatic solvents. They are used almost exclusively for industrial finishes. Most of these resins can be cross-linked with melamine or urea-formaldehyde resins through alkyd hydroxyl functionality.
